The safari starts and ends in Kigali, it includes a gorilla permit of $750 per person in the final costing. The safari will take you to Volcanoes national park which harbours many mountain gorillas totalling to 480 mountain gorillas, enjoy a city tour, Golden monkey trekking, a visit to Lake Kivu to enjoy a boat cruise. You will enjoy full board accommodation.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and Drive to Volcanoes National park

Upon your arrival at the airport, the guide will meet you and welcome you to Rwanda, you will enjoy a city tour where you will be able to visit the genocide memorial centre at Gisozi and the market place in order to view and also buy hand crafts as you observe Rwanda life styles. Rwanda is a fantastic country with unique land scapes that are characterised by the highlands as well as the green vegetation. The variety of flora as well as fauna of Rwanda also include; the mountain gorillas, that are highly admired by the international tourists and also is the most improving tourist hub with East Africa as well as Africa. The drive to Ruhengeri also takes over two and half hours. On arrival, check in at your lodge.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking tours

Have your morning breakfast and then be taken to the park offices. The rangers will then brief you about the dos and don’ts of trekking the mountain gorillas before heading out for gorilla trekking in the forest. There is no real time known for the exciting exercise but coming face to face with the gorillas in Rwanda is a moment worth taking. Immediately after trekking, return to the lodge where you will have lunch. You can also use the last hours of the day for a tour to view the eye catching Lake Bulera and Ruhongo, you will then relax for the overnight and dinner.

Day 3: enjoy golden monkey trekking & transfer to Lake Kivu

Have breakfast and after report to the offices for briefing about golden monkey trekking with in volcanoes national park. Tracking of these monkeys is also an exciting experience most especially when you meet face to face with them and also associate with then in many different ways as they play, hide and seek which is a great deal to the guests. These golden monkeys also live only in Virunga conservation area and these have been well modified in two groups. The kabatwa group also lives near the park headquarters and the Masanga group that is near the Karisimbi is also in the longer walking distance. This tour is so adventurous and is also full of photo opportunities.

You will have lunch and then have a tour to Gisenyi on the shorelines of Lake Kivu with in the Albertine rift Valley. Lake Kivu is also among the great African lakes that is located on the DR Congo Rwanda boarder, the lake also covers over 2,700 km. with its depth of 480m , Kivu is ranked 15th in the world. In the lake, there lies the world’s tenth largest inland island and the minute island of Tshegera that lies in the margins of Virunga National park. The settlements of the shores of the lake include; Sake, Kabare, Bakuvu, Kalehe, and Goma in Congo as well as Gisenyi, Kibuye as well as Cyangugu with in Rwanda.

Day 4: Boat cruise on Lake Kivu & transfer to Kigali

Have breakfast and then take a boat ride to some of the Islands in Lake Kivu, you will visit the Napoleon Island, Nkombo, Amahoro Islands as well as a tour around the fishing Villages, the rural coffee washing stations as well as the Nyamyumba hot springs. You will return to the main land for dinner and an overnight at the hotel.

Day 5: Enjoy a Kigali city tour & Departure

As you also organise for your departure and if you missed some places on the Kigali tour, you will visit the genocide memorial centres, Gisozi as well as Murambi in Kigali where the rael history of the genocide in Rwanda is given in details. You will have a safari to the genocide memorial for as great experience. You will then move to the airport for your departure.
